Indoor Air Quality Assessments
The medical and scientific communities have established a definite link between illnesses as a result of exposure to fungal microorganisms, dust mites, and chemicals commonly used in the workplace and home. A recent study in the Journal of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology has established a positive association (particularly in young children) between allergy symptoms, hypersensitivity and mold exposure. Building Related Illness (BRI) and Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) are terms used when health symptoms are experienced while in a particular building (including the home) and relief from these symptoms only occurs after leaving the site. Causes of BRI and SBS are often related to poor Indoor Air Quality (IAQ).Typical symptoms associated with poor indoor air quality include:
REO/Short Sale/Foreclosed Property Mold Testing and Remediation
Mold and foreclosure--there might not seem to be a correlation between the two, but there is. Even some of the most luxurious condos and homes have been affected. This happens because owners who are going through short sales or foreclosures end up cutting off their AC, sealing up the unit, and never looking back. In these enclosed spaces, high temperature, stagnant air, and high relative humidity are the perfect breeding ground for mold. Most of the time mold growth is observed in the basement due to a sump pump failure or water intrusion event. Without heat or AC, the mold can quickly spread and adversely impact the upstairs living quarters. Purchasing an REO property can be a great buy, but mold and indoor air quality problems can become apparent after occupancy. Remediation can cost thousands of dollars to correct the problem. Our remediation methods and techniques eliminates and prevents mold from recurring so that an REO or short sale property can remain on the market longer and achieve a much higher market value. Banks don’t want to get into the property management but the philosophy of waiting to sell the property “as is” no matter how long it takes does not make good financial sense for the bank, its investors or the Realtors retained to sell them. With almost 50% of the market being comprised of foreclosed homes, buyers and sellers can get a much better deal by eliminating the mold factor. We offer a solution that works for everyone concerned. Crawlspace Waterproofing and Wood Rot Prevention
Moisture in crawlspaces can contribute to more problems than just mold. It can also result in structural damage from dry rot, potential indoor air quality problems, as well as the presence of termites and other unwanted pests attracted to moisture. Moisture in the crawlspace eventually will raise moisture levels throughout the house and can extend to attics and roof spaces. The extent of the problem depends on how much moisture is present and how often it exists. Some of the common symptoms of a crawl space with moisture problem are: We have converted hundreds of foundation vented crawlspaces into conditioned crawlspaces for condo associations and private home owners.
